MICHAEL ENN SIRVET

SIRVET-SVP6732-Edit_4-1.jpg

Sirvet'south artwork is a fusion of the harmony and disharmony, and the beauty and tension of the Man-Nature human relationship.

"In essence, I restructure nature to bear witness it to people anew; creating a mythos of forms that are born of nature and forged in the fires of manufacture, technology, and man desire. The tension between these ideas and sustainability of actions, my own included, is peradventure the defining question of our time. To that effect, the most organic of my sculptures is industrial, and the virtually engineered of my pieces reflects primitive natural calm. Nature cannot be considered without acknowledging humanity'south effects, and my artwork is a fusion of the harmony and disharmony, the beauty and tension of that relationship."

ABOUT

Informed by his observations in nature, Sirvet interprets the underlying architecture and constructs a bridge between simple icons and complex ideas.

American structuralist artist, designer, and engineer Michael Enn Sirvet strives to capture the archaic beauty within familiar forms. Sirvet builds structures that recreate the ocean'southward waves in steel tangent lines; the decaying of leaves in thousands of perfectly drilled holes; and the ephemeral wind captured in billowing metal. The artist explains: "My hope is that the simple intricacies of my bathetic, purified forms will invoke recognition and impart the wonder that I experience for nature". Sirvet lives and keeps a full-time studio practice in Washington D.C.  Many of his pieces can be found in private collections and at several US embassies.

Argument

I restructure nature to show it to people anew; creating a mythos of forms that are built-in of nature and forged in the fires of industry, technology and human desire

I strive to capture the primitive beauty within familiar forms. Inspired by cluttered and nonetheless uniform naturally occurring patterns, and the technology and industry which mimic them, I build archetypal structures, melding and juxtaposing independent and varied fabric elements, natural and manmade, expected and unexpected.

My promise is that the simple intricacies of my abstracted, purified assemblages and forms will invoke recognition and impart the wonder that I feel for nature... That I use industrial materials and methods to create my artworks, is an embedded irony when considering the effects of homo's technological and industrial development upon nature and our surroundings. The tension between these ideas and sustainability of actions, my own included, is perhaps the defining question of our fourth dimension. Nature cannot be considered without acknowledging humanity's effects, and my artwork is a fusion of the harmony and disharmony, the beauty and tension of that human relationship.                     - Michael
